Self Portrait - Wilson Webb in Pittsburgh, PA 2022

Wilson started in the entertainment field at a young age, helping out at a local opera house. By the age of eight he picked up his father’s camera and has been slightly obsessed with photography ever since.

In high school a stellar vocational video production class led to him to join a small crew for an independent horror film. In art school he met a film technician and started working as an electrician on commercials and films, laying cables in zub-sero Duluth winter for his first studio production, “Iron Will” in 1993.

Slowly working his way up to gaffer and eventually director of photography, Wilson continued to shoot photos on and off set. These experiences led him to the role of on-set photographer, starting with the Coen Brothers’ “A Serious Man” in 2008.

Wilson has been unit photographer on over thirty feature films and worked with some of today’s most respected directors: Paul Thomas Anderson, Todd Haynes, Greta Gerwing, Noah Baumbauch, Ben Stiller, Richard Linklater and the Coen Brothers. His photographs have been seen in many publications including the New York Times, Variety, and W. His on-set work has been collected in books for Marriage Story, Little Women, and White Noise. Wilson is a recipient of the Excellence in Unit Still Photography Award from the IGG Publicists. He’s also been a guest on the Roger Deakins podcast “Team Deakins.”

Wilson is committed to making strong images that help each project be seen in its own particular style. He goes above and beyond what’s expected of his position, delivering  directors and publicists a rich portfolio of images for promoting and documenting projects. His photographs also honor the filmmaking process and the people involved.
